Digital Arrest
“Digital Arrest,” which was created with the Columbia University School of Social Work in collaboration with the NYU School of Engineering, is a virtual reality experience that explores how social media can be used as a tool for policing in the 21st century. The viewer steps into the identity of Jarrell Daniels, a young Black man whose use of social media has resulted in conspiracy charges and a six-year prison sentence. I wrote the script for this project, in collaboration with SIM | ED.
This past fall our team took the top prize in the Creative Technology category at the NYC Media Lab 2019 Demo Expo. See the full list of winners here.
